A new Sprint Direct Connect to add to the line up! | 0 Comments
By evp on 02-08-2012 08:52 PM
The Kyocera DuraPlus, is coming in 2Q
With Nextel on it’s way out, Sprint is getting ahead of the game and creating an impressive line-up of rugged Sprint Direct Connect handsets that are sure to satisfy the direct connect hunger. The newest device coming soon to the line-up will be the Kyocera DuraPlus. The DuraPlus boasts military-grade durability and an embedded LED flashlight in a candy bar form factor. It will be available the first half of 2012 and the price is TDB.
“Kyocera DuraPlus is the ideal device for use in the construction, public safety and utility industries that demand devices that stand up to tough work conditions while delivering industry-leading push-to-talk capabilities and Sprint 3G data speeds,” said David Owens, vice president-Product Development. “This device is a dynamite addition to our Sprint Direct Connect portfolio.”
Similar to its predecessors, Kyocera DuraMax and Kyocera DuraCore, Kyocera DuraPlus can take the abuse of harsh working conditions. It’s certified to Military Standard 810G for resistance to dust, shock, vibration, temperature extremes, humidity, blowing rain and water immersion (up to 30 minutes in up to 1 meter of water).
The embedded LED Flashlight, with a dedicated button helps users look for house keys in the dark, navigate a power outage or change a tire on a dark road. Also unique to Kyocera DuraPlus is a remote speaker microphone jack allowing customers to use their phone with heavy duty remote speaker microphones. Additionally, it features an external charging port that enables the device to be used with a single or multi-bay charging station (sold separately). This is very helpful for businesses who issue devices to shift workers, such as shuttle drivers or security personnel.
“Kyocera designed DuraPlus with demanding industrial and enterprise customers in mind,” said Eric Anderson, senior vice president and general manager of Sales and Marketing at Kyocera Communications. “Simple things like an LED flashlight, multi-bay charging, freestanding operation and the ability to use application-specific accessories go a long way toward better productivity on the jobsite and out in the field.”

Update to the Sprint discount policy | 0 Comments
By evp on 01-27-2012 09:18 PM
Beginning 2/1/12 the employee discount will only apply to the primary lines on share plans. In the past the discount was applied on secondary lines for Family and Business Share plans, but soon only the primary line will receive the service discount. While this may come as a shock for Sprint users this new policy change falls in line with the other carriers. You can read more directly from the carrier at Sprint Invoice.
For more clients this will not make much of an impact your the monthly bill and Sprint is typically the low cost leader for messaging and data plans. The link also gives a handy tool to compare the rate plans and value to other major carriers.

Device Highlight: Kyocera DuraMax | 0 Comments
By evp on 01-11-2012 05:21 PM
Yesterday we had our Tuesday Training with Sean Savery from Kyocera and I have to say it was one of the most interesting trainings. Sean told us all about the latest and greatest devices from Kyocera with a focus on the DuraMax pictured below. He literally took this phone and slammed it on the ground and began stomping on the device, then picked it up, hammered it on the marble table and followed that up with putting the phone in a bowl of water. In this industry to see a lot of people abuse their phone and I’ve seen more than my fair share of cracked screens and waterlogged phones. The DuraMax took all of this and still worked good as new. We even called the phone while it was in the bowl of water and talked on speakerphone- AMAZING. This phone really impressed me and I could see this being very handy for people that are on job sites and rough on their phone.
Currently the DuraMax is $69.99 for new service and upgrades and worth every penny. Check out this and others phones at your EVP private portal.
Whats your data usage? | 0 Comments
By evp on 11-21-2011 09:34 PM
I feel like phone companies are in constant battle over who has the newest phone, the lowest price, the fastest network or the best tagline. For myself the one commercial that continues to spark my interest is Sprint’s unlimited network for smartphones.
My friends are on a variety of networks and I constantly hear them asking about Wi-Fi hotspots. They use the Wi-Fi network for data so that the carriers network isn’t used and they don’t go over their data cap. Seems like a lot of work to me and I’m not sure that I have ever used the Wi-Fi button on my EVO. Like a lot people I have no clue how much data I use on a monthly basis. 2GB? 10BG? I check email and Facebook, use the navigation a good bit and an occasionally a You Tube video but what does that add up to? I don’t feel like a heavy user, but I was still unsure just what I would need on another carrier.
Sprint created this fun and handy little calculator that allows you to see your estimated usage based on your daily/weekly/ monthly activity. As expected I’m around 2.5GB, but it was neat to see what factors really consume the network. See for yourself: How much data do you use?
Google Wallet is here! | 0 Comments
By evp on 09-23-2011 03:54 PM
Google Wallet is an Android app that makes the Nexus S 4G a wallet. That’s right, your phone can now literally do everything including pay for your dinner. The app stores a virtual version of your credit card on the phone and allows you to pay using near field communications or NFC. Currently the app is only available on select devices and accepted at select retailers, but I anticipate this growing to include all retailers in the near future.
Article from Phone Scoop states, “Google today announced the general availability of its Google Wallet service for Sprint and owners of the Samsung Nexus S Android smartphone. Google Wallet is an open platform for payments and offers at the point of sale. Google said it makes use of your phone to tap, pay and save. Google Wallet uses NFC (near-field communications) and GPS to let people use phones for commercial transactions. Google Wallet works with MasterCard’s PayPass system, and Sprint, Citi, which are among the first Google Wallet partners. Others following soon include Visa, Discover, and American Express. Google Wallet supports loyalty programs, such as supermarket club cards, and automatically applies any earned discounts to the purchase. Receipts are stored electronically on the phone. The system was trialed in New York City and San Francisco over the last few months. Some of the first retailers on board are Macy’s, Walgreens, and Subway. Google is offering a $10 bonus to new users who sign up before the end of the year. There is a tool available on Google’s web site to help potential users see where they might use the service. Google hasn’t said if or when Google Wallet will become available to other handsets and other carriers.” Read More from Phone Scoop.
Meet the new Samsung Galaxy S II, Epic 4G Touch- that’s a mouthful | 0 Comments
By evp on 08-31-2011 08:38 PM
The Epic 4G Touch is almost here. Set to launch on Sept 16th at a $199.99 price point makes this a contender for the top smartphone. The previous Epic was well known for the super AMOLED display, but the new Epic 4G has deeper, richer color on an amazing 4.52″ touchscreen. Combine that with an 8MP camera and a camcorder that shoots HD video and you have one remarkable device. Only time will tell how consumers review the new device but by our review it looks pretty nice.
Key Features:
- One of the thinnest smartphones, measuring just 0.38-inches thick.
- A brilliant 4.52 inch Super AMOLED Plus touchscreen display delivering brilliant colors with the most contrast, providing a vivid and crisp viewing experience.
- Android 2.3, Gingerbread.
- Powered by one of the fastest dual-core processors available (Samsung Exynos 1.2GHZ) along with the blazing-fast Sprint 4G speeds on America’s Favorite 4G Network.
- Dual Camera: 8-megapixel rear-facing camera/camcorder with auto-focus and flash that shoots video in 1080p HD high profile and 2-megapixel front-facing camera ideal for self-portraits or video chat.
- Samsung’s TouchWiz user interface, provides superior multi-tasking and customization for an enhanced visual and intuitive smartphone experience.
